Fox

In sheer silence, he waits.
Stiff as a stone, he twitches his ears,
waiting, listening,
watching for movement upon the autumn wonderland.
Then, the fallen leaves jump and rustle about.
Swift as a hawk, the fox crouches to the soft soil,
and pounces.
