Wayland Welcomes a School Resource Officer

Meet Officer Jonathan Schaefer, Wayland Union Public Schools new School Resource Officer (SRO). A SRO is a Law Enforcement Officer, Public Safety Educator, and an Informal Counselor/Mentor. SROs have an important role in building a positive and trusting relationship between law enforcement and students. Officer Schaefer is most excited to build relationships with students which is why he wanted to become a SRO, to help Wayland students be safe,
successful, and productive. Officer Schaefer's favorite part of being in school himself was his friends and sports. When he isn't working, you can find him hunting, fishing, or camping.
