6 officials stand for ribbon cutting

Students, staff, and community members gathered at Dix Street Elementary for the ribbon cutting of their new Storywalk, a project aimed at bringing literature to life while promoting outdoor activity and developing reading skills.

The Storywalk features 16 posts, each displaying a page from a selected book, allowing families and students to stroll along the path, read the story, and engage with the illustrations. The current book on display is The Hike, a fitting choice for encouraging outdoor exploration. The story will be updated four times a year, with a new book for each season, ensuring there is always something fresh and engaging for readers as they experience the change in scenery.

Allegan Area ESA Tech Center students from the Building Trades and Welding programs played a key role in bringing this project to life. They built and installed the posts that now proudly line the Storywalk, showcasing their craftsmanship and dedication to a community initiative that will benefit generations of young readers.
