The Pre-Employment Thrive program is designed for students aged 14-26 with IEPs, 504 Plans, or other disabilities that may impact their ability to secure competitive, integrated employment. The program helps students explore various career paths, develop workplace readiness skills, and enhance their independent living abilities. Central to the program is the innovative 5 Pillar Planning system, a visually engaging, disability-supportive activity planning tool delivered directly to students’ homes.

In a recent session, students engaged in Pre-Employment Transition Services, embarking on a journey of career exploration and skill-building. Guided by Thrive Ability’s vocational rehabilitation professionals, students participated in activities designed to spark their curiosity about different careers and enhance their readiness for employment.

The job exploration session encouraged students to brainstorm potential employers, identify the skills required, and conduct online job searches to discover current openings. This hands-on approach helped students understand the importance of aligning their interests and abilities with job requirements.

Unlike typical Pre-ETS programs, Pre-Employment Thrive offers a unique curriculum that helps students apply the executive functioning skills they learn to their everyday lives. The 5 Pillar Planning system integrates seamlessly into the curriculum, providing students with a structured approach to managing their goals during and after secondary education.

This system is more than just a planning tool—it’s a pathway to success. By learning to balance workplace responsibilities with personal management tasks, students are better prepared for long-term success in both their professional and personal lives.

"Our goal is to help students build a foundation for their future," said a Thrive Ability representative. "Through the 5 Pillar Planning system, we provide them with tools they can use now and carry into adulthood." Lexie discusses career exploration with students

This partnership underscores the Transition Center’s commitment to preparing students for life beyond the classroom. With Thrive Ability’s tailored approach, students are gaining the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to thrive in their careers and communities.
