Three students and two teachers display winter items donated inside aubreys closet

The holiday season at Hillside Learning Center is shining brighter thanks to the efforts of Andrea Vargo and her students. Demonstrating the true spirit of giving, the class recently completed their Classroom Holiday Service Project, aimed at supporting the community during the chilly winter months.

Students worked together to create and display posters throughout the school, encouraging peers, staff, and families to donate hats and gloves. The response was heartwarming, with donations pouring in to support their cause.

The collected items were delivered to Aubrey’s Closest on December 20, a local consignment shop in downtown Allegan. In partnership, the donated essentials will be available at no cost to those in need. These hats and gloves are now available while supplies last, to the community, offering warmth and comfort during the coldest months of the year.

Andrea Vargo shared her pride in her students' dedication to the project. “This initiative not only teaches the importance of giving back but also shows students how small acts of kindness can make a big difference,” she said.

Hillside Learning Center’s service project serves as a reminder of the power of community, compassion, and teamwork. Together, they are helping to ensure that no one in Allegan faces the winter months without a little extra warmth and care.
