Are you a current Sophomore or Junior and interested in taking college courses built into your school day? With our partnership with Lake Michigan College, you can do this at the Allegan Tech Center in our Allegan Advantage program. This is the dual-enrollment option under the POSTSECONDARY ENROLLMENT OPTIONS ACT Act 160 of 1996; act:https://www.legislature.mi.gov/(S(1umwgt25qnhbhe2nkfsup3k5))/documents/mcl/pdf/mcl-Act-160-of-1996.pdf Our first information night is this week on Feb., 28th at 6:00 pm at the Allegan Tech Center. Our flyer has been updated to reflect the correct dates of future information nights. New to FAFSA or would like help navigating the new version? Join us on March 5th for our FAFSA night! Student and parent must create their FAFSA ID before attending. Thank you to our volunteers representing our 3 cohorts at the Tech Center Open House! Some of them also had the opportunity to share their experiences on a student panel during the information portion in the auditorium. They represented themselves and the program well! They can use the volunteer time towards earning their MEMCA (Michigan Early Middle College Association) Certificate that is awarded during the Pinning Ceremony their 13th year.

There is still time to apply to the Early College Program for current sophomores! We have our last Information Night at the Allegan Tech Center during their Open House on February 13th. Come visit all Tech Center Programs and stop in the Auditorium from 7:00pm -8:00pm to hear about the Early College Program and the Application Process. Applications Days at the Allegan Tech Center are scheduled as follows: Wed. Feb. 21st: Fennville - AM , Plainwell - PM Fri. Feb. 23rd: Otsego - AM Mon. Feb. 26th: Hopkins - PM Wed. Feb. 28th: Allegan - AM, Martin - PM Eligible students should receive an application folder from their counselor at their high school. They will prepare the materials in the folder. Students will bring their completed application with them when they ride the Tech Center bus to the Tech Center during their assigned AM or PM session. The weather has not cooperated in the past so we are trying one more time! We are hosting an Early College Information Night in Fennville. We will also have a translator present for Spanish-speaking families. See flyer for details:

Our next Early College Information Night is this Thursday, January 11th! This program is for 10th-grade students to apply and attend their Junior, Senior, and then one more year to earn up to 61 credits for free. They earn both their high school diploma and associate degree from Lake Michigan College. This program is a game changer for students to then thrive when they move on to their next college. Former students will be joining the in-person session to speak about their experience in the program. *The virtual option is 5:00pm-6:00pm. We are seeking students who are mature, have good attendance, complete their high school assignments, and turn them in on time to apply to our program! Through our partnership with Lake Michigan College conveniently located at the Allegan Tech Center, we are looking for students passionate about education to be a part of our 10th Early College Allegan County Cohort! Looking for help to pay for college? Attend a virtual Financial Aid Webinar hosted by the Michigan Department of Treasury’s MI Student Aid team. There has been a change in the FAFSA and it will be available in December with a new and simpler format. You must register to attend these virtual webinars. This week we start promoting the Early College program as we join the Allegan Tech Center Staff and present to 10th-grade students throughout the county over the next few weeks. 10th-grade students have many amazing options here at the Allegan Tech Center for their Junior year and beyond. I can't believe we will be recruiting for the 10th Cohort in partnership with Lake Michigan College. Students admitted into the program have the opportunity to earn an Associate Degree for free as part of the Early College Allegan County!
